Chocolate Brownie

I know London is known for pretty sad weather but winters are not that bad, at least for me. I actually love winters – the chill in the air, the colours of Christmas, and a good chocolate treat! Last year on such lovely night, I felt a strong desire for the good old chocolate cake. But it was quite late and all my neighbouring shops were well past their close-by timings. That is when, to satisfy my craving, I picked up this recipe and made my 1st chocolate brownie in flat 15 minutes – yes, that is all it takes to get a lovely home-made chocolate delicacy.

Chocolate Brownies (commonly referred to as a brownie), is a small, rich, chocolate baked cake-slice, named after its brown colour. The Brownie is a cross between a cake and a cookie in texture – it is a flat, square shape little piece of cake. Brownies come in a variety of forms. They are either fudge or cakey, depending on their density. They may include nuts, frosting, whipped cream, chocolate chips or other ingredients according to one’s choice.

The ingredients for Chocolate Brownie are :

  1. All-purpose Flour (Maida) : 100 grams
  2. Butter : 150 grams
  3. Sugar : 200 grams (powdered)
  4. Cocoa powder unsweetened : 65 grams
  5. Egg : 2
  6. Vanilla extract : 1 tsp

Method :

Melt the butter, and then add powdered sugar and vanilla extract into it and mix well. Now add the eggs to this mixture (one by one) and whisk them well. Now add the all-purpose flour to it and again mix them well.

Grease a microwaveable bowl and put this mixture in it. Start the microwave and let’s cook this batter for 5 minutes on a high setting.

Leave it (undisturbed, in the microwave) for another 10 minutes. Your irresistible (hopefully 🙂 ) chocolate brownie is ready!

Insider Tips / Finer Points :

  • You may want to serve the brownie with a Vanilla ice cream – classic combination.

  • You can also do variations to this chocolate brownie by adding choco chips or nuts.

  • You may replace the eggs in this recipe with 1 mashed banana or 1/2 a cup of yogurt or, 2/3 cup of apple sauce or, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil or, 2 tsp flax-seeds with 1/2 cup cold water.
